Recovery from Hurricane Helene
In late September 2024, Hurricane Helene unleashed catastrophic flooding across Southwest Virginia territories. Damascus, in particular, suffered severe damage: flooding disrupted homes, businesses, and key recreational infrastructure, including numerous sections and trestles of the Virginia Creeper Trail.
H&P’s Role in Recovery
H&P will spearhead critical engineering services to aid community recovery. The scope includes:
– Civil engineering and surveying to restore and strengthen damaged infrastructure.
– Geotechnical support to ensure slope stability and resilient design in flood-impacted zones.
– Construction materials testing to guarantee quality and safety in rebuilding efforts.
