JAMES RIVER STABILIZATION & AMHERST CO. SEWER LINE

The Amherst County Service Authority (ACSA) is executing a critical streambank stabilization and sewer protection project along the James River in Madison Heights, Virginia, backed by a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The project included riverbank stabilization and protections for the critical sewer line.

The multi-phase initiative safeguards a major sanitary sewer trunk line that carries wastewater from Madison Heights to the Williams Creek Sewer Pumping Station. Severe riverbank erosion previously threatened to expose the pipeline, which risked releasing up to 700,000 gallons of untreated sewage into the river daily

H&P has served the project through engineering led by Chad Hodges, PE, construction administration services and inspection.
